World vision is a Non Profit Christian based organization that has 6 storehouses through out the United States. Some of you may be wondering why we go to World Vision in Philippi each month to volunteer at their storehouse. Maybe this little article can clear it up. When we started building onto our church our contractor suggested we make a trip up there to see if we could save a little money on materiel. Well we did. They ended up supplying all the insulation for the new part of our building at no cost and supplied the bathroom fixtures at a very low price. We built a relationship with the folks there and anytime we needed things we would check with them and if the had it they would supply us with it. We became a member of the storehouse in 2009 and Shawn and I started going up there each month to receive essentials, called gift in kind. 

Our membership cost is $100.00 a year and volunteer one day a month. We love going up there, its always fun and we always bring back plenty of gifts that folks can use. We brought them back to the church and community and gave them to the church for their personal use. Anything we get from them has to be used by us, can’t be sold, traded or bartered and must be used domestically. They are a very generous group of people and we are very fortunate to have such a good relationship with them. 

Everyone is invited to join us on our monthly trip, we leave the church at 7:30 AM each first Friday every month, stop at McDonald's for breakfast and arrive at World Vision around 10:15. We work until 12:00, go to lunch, come back, work til 2:00 then head home. Usually back at the church around 4:30. You wont regret going. If you want to go you will need to pass a background check; not hard to do. We have all done it, just let me know and we'll go from there. Thanks for reading this.
