The leaders of the teen and middle school Wednesday night youth pulled off a delicious Thanksgiving dinner just for these kids and they certainly did enjoy it! Just look at those smiles while waiting for the serving time to begin! Diana, Patrick, Richard, Karen and Ashley did a wonderful time making sure these kids felt special! Thanks for all that you do!
The youth are also working on earning points to go on a wonderful trip to Bush Gardens. They will need 70 points to go but they can easily earn the points by doing the following:
*Attending Sunday and Wednesday
*Bring a friend to church
*Bring your Bible to church
*Do certain jobs around the church
*Participate in the Christmas play
I recently watched The Best Christmas Pageant. I recommend everyone watch it. It made me think. The movie is about 6 kids. Not your every Sunday church kids. Not your pretty clothes kids Not your loving parents kids . The Herdmans are quite the opposite. They are mean kids. They fight. They say words they shouldn't. Would they be welcomed at your church? Would they be welcomed in your Christmas pageant? I would hope you would use it as a outreach to lost souls. Has the Christmas story became mundane? Do we just listen to it and move on? Is it still precious to you? Do you remember how you read it over and over when you were first saved? Do you sit through Christmas programs because it is expected? Do you stay home? It is time for us to get the wonder of Jesus 's birth back. It is time for us to think about Mary, Joseph, the shepherds and even the innkeeper. We should rejoice, like the angels. I encourage you to take time to sit quietly and reflect on what the birth of Jesus meant. Think on how hard it was for Mary and Joseph. If you have strayed from your first love, I encourage you to come back. In closing love on all the Herdmans that come into our church.
